Other Info | Spektral Quartet presents one of the most stirring and pivotal pieces of the 20th century, Steve Reich’s Different Trains for string quartet and tape. Traversing the years leading up to and immediately following World War II by way of interview snippets and recorded locomotives, Different Trains is by turns devastating, hopeful, and effusive. Speaking of effusive, the rustic charm of Dvořák’s “American” Quartet all but defies you not to smile while hearing it, while the pithy morsels that are Anton Webern’s Six Bagatelles pull the concert under the microscope for a bit of listening in miniature. |
